The Exhaust Fan Calculator is a tool used to determine the appropriate fan capacity required for proper ventilation in a room. It calculates the necessary airflow based on room dimensions and the number of air changes per hour (ACH), which is a measure of how many times the air within a space is replaced with fresh air in an hour.

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Room Length (m): Enter the length of the room in meters.
  2. Room Width (m): Enter the width of the room in meters.
  3. Room Height (m): Enter the height of the room in meters.
  4. Air Changes per Hour (ACH): Enter the desired number of air changes per hour.
  5. Required Fan Capacity (m³/h): The calculator will provide the required fan capacity in cubic meters per hour.

Formula

The formula used to calculate the required fan capacity is:

\[ \text{Fan Capacity} = \text{Room Volume} \times \text{ACH} \]

Where the room volume is calculated as:

\[ \text{Room Volume} = \text{Length} \times \text{Width} \times \text{Height} \]

Example Calculation

For a room with dimensions 5m (length), 4m (width), and 3m (height), and an ACH of 6:

\[ \text{Room Volume} = 5 \times 4 \times 3 = 60 \text{ cubic meters} \]

\[ \text{Fan Capacity} = 60 \times 6 = 360 \text{ m³/h} \]

This means you would need an exhaust fan with a capacity of 360 cubic meters per hour to achieve 6 air changes per hour.

Importance

Proper ventilation is essential in maintaining indoor air quality and comfort. This calculator helps ensure that the selected exhaust fan is sufficient to maintain the desired air exchange rate, which is crucial in spaces like kitchens, bathrooms, workshops, and other enclosed areas.
